Apron Light Parade 2025
Sunday 2nd February 2025 - Apron Community Garden, Buckingham Park
The event will begin at 4:30pm and we’ll be joined by Amy Hill and her wonderful singing group, Whimsy Brews for delicious hot drinks (free hot chocolate for kids), and our brilliant friends Same Sky Brighton for an enchanted walk through the trees, shining a light through winter darkness and calling the spring.
Lanntern workshops will be held at the garden on Mondays and Fridays leading up to the parade.
Saturday 1st Feb lantern making at the Circular Space 2pm-3pm.
It’s been quite a year for us at Apron since we planned the parade for January 2024. Storm Isha put a stop to things and we chose to cancel the event for safety.
We went into 2024 facing a barrow load of challenges ranging from health, growing conditions and the changing climate (too much rain, not enough rain, heatwave, rain; slugs; the landscape for fundraising.
We learned a lot
We asked for help
We kept our little garden growing
With huge gratitude to our incredible volunteer team:
Jenny, who stepped up to become our head gardener, Thursday morning nature school lead, and volunteer group coordinator.
Debbie for running our Monday morning art and craft sessions and school holiday workshops.
Tara, for nurturing our community partnerships and supporting our fundraising efforts.
Anna, for keeping us stocked with willow and inspiration.
Kate and Blake for helping us with posters, flyers and slides (like these!)
Our wonderful group of volunteers who join us every Thursday (and some weekends) and have helped us harvest seeds, clear pathways, turn the compost, prepare the beds for this years growing season, mend fences, plant hedges, dig a new pond…
Our composting club who help us feed the wormery and look after our soil.
Green Tides, Friends of Buckingham Park and Transition Town Shoreham for helping us recruit volunteers and spread the word.
Esteem, Buckingham Park Primary, and Herons Dale schools for collaborating with us.
Community Works for supporting us in becoming a CIC (community interest community)
Our brilliant new board who support us with their expertise and wisdom.
All the wonderful visitors, families and groups who attend our workshops each week.
Keith and the incredible Park Rangers team and Rhian from the Neighbourhood team at Adur and Worthing Councils.
We made it! And this year we want to mark our gratitude and celebrate the incredible community that has grown the garden into what it is today by putting on a beautiful event.
This year our friends Same Sky, Whimsy Brews and Amy Hill Music and We are Over the Moon will be helping us make the event extra special
2025 is going to be a good year! And we have an exciting new project we can’t wait to share with you soon!!!
Apron Creative became a CIC in September 2024. We had been operating as a constituted volunteer community group since 2017. To increase capacity and ensure long term sustainability of our operation we are fundraising to support our core and project costs.
